ESA was founded in 2017 with a mission to create a more resilient and diversified energy future.
The journey began when our future founders, managing the U.S. subsidiary of a Spanish company, grew it into one of the Southeast’s largest commercial energy developers. When that company shifted its focus to European markets, we saw an opportunity to continue driving innovation and progress here at home.
Determined to remain independently owned and community-driven, ESA’s five founders took bold steps to launch the company without outside capital.
By pooling personal resources, including home equity and retirement savings, and maintaining a disciplined approach to financial growth, we laid the groundwork for a strong, sustainable future.

ESA was founded by a team that had already grown one of the Southeast’s largest commercial energy developers.
In 2017, after exiting that business, they launched ESA with a new vision: to stay founder-owned, build a people-first company, and lead the way in U.S. energy development.
Today, with over 100 employees nationwide, we remain rooted in a culture of responsibility, innovation, and transparency.
